He-lion
Cumbersome, clumsy on land
Barking his place in the band
He’s a monster when mating
This isn’t speed-dating
We humans do not understand
Though he’s sleeping for most of the day
You should see him when hunting his prey
Sinuous, striking,
Teeth flashing, frightening
One tail flick, he’s off and away
But this beast may be living in fear
The problem becomes very clear:
The ice fields are thawing
It’s no use ignoring
We’re melting the home he holds dear.
